AMES, Iowa (June 6, 2011) – Iowa Sports Foundation President, Jim Hallihan, announced the recipients of the 2011 Brian Pearson Memorial scholarship. This year’s recipients are Isaac Olson of Urbandale High School and Kaytlin Tippin of Waukee High School.
Each year the Iowa Sports Foundation chooses two recipients to receive the distinguished Brian Pearson Scholarship, one male and one female. The scholarship, sponsored by the Orr, Kenyon and Skinner families, is to honor former Iowa State University Basketball Player Brian Pearson who died of brain cancer in 1997.
Olson and Tippin were chosen for their character and ability to demonstrate citizenship, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Scholarship winners are also students who are accomplished in school, activities and make a positive impact in the community.

3 on 3 Basketball at the Iowa State Capitol
Register Today for Hoopin’ At The Dome
Registration is open for the 2011 Hoopin’ At The Dome 3 on 3 basketball tournament sponsored by U.S. Bank. Scheduled for Saturday, May 7, the tournament will be played in the shadow of the Iowa State Capitol.
The annual tournament showcases athletes from all around the state including Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Sioux City, and several central Iowa communities. Last year 564 athletes on 110 teams from took part in the tournament which is offered for youth and adults.

The Iowa Sports Foundation (ISF), the organization that hosts the Iowa Games and Live Healthy Iowa is excited to announce a new program - Adaptive Sports Iowa.
Staying true to the ISF mission of promoting good health, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and good character to Iowa's citizens, Adaptive Sports Iowa (ASI) will allow the ISF to expand its reach to the physically disabled population. ASI will provide recreation and sport opportunities for Iowa’s physically disabled which will include but is not limited to amputees, paralysis as a result of spinal cord injury or birth defect, visual impairment and/or hearing impairment.
